Natalie's Suite
Three Faces of Addiction
Three movement symphonic suite for piano and orchestra
This work focuses on the dilemma of addiction. The overriding tragedy of this malady is denial, and the absolute obsession that one day the sufferer will gain control over their problem.
The insanity of doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result, is at the core of addiction. To illustrate this the composer has deliberately stayed in the home key throughout the entire work, to emphasise this aspect of addiction and create a “tragic soundscape”.
This work is available on the CD Dark Clouds in Life.
